Best Chinese seafood restaurant in Zetland tells you what the Chinese eat during Mid-Autumn Festival

Continuing from last week’s blog, the next upcoming Chinese festival is the Mid-Autumn Festival, sometimes known as Chinese Moon Festival. It is a day where families gather together for dinner and admire the full moon while eating the must-eat food – the mooncakes!

Mooncakes are traditional dessert of Mid-Autumn Festival. This Chinese pastry is usually not available all the time, only when the festival is nearing. They are round in shape, like the full harvest moon. Most mooncakes are eaten in small portions as the pastry skin enveloping a sweet, dense filling. It is a food to share. What goes best with mooncakes? Chinese tea!

Other than the traditional mooncakes with salted egg yolks and lotus paste, you can now find ice-cream mooncakes. Sure the little kids will love it.

The Mid-Autumn Festival falls on 27 September this year, maybe it is time to gather with families and friends for a good yum cha. It’s all about sharing the good food together.

The best restaurant in Zetland, East Phoenix Chinese restaurant serves yumcha and dinner 7 days a week. Book us soon!
